US NOT TO BACK PAKISTAN IN EXTRA CONSTITUTIONAL MEANS - PAKISTAN NEWS HEADLINES
PARIS NEWS HEADLINES: - The world urges Pakistan to return to democracy. The United States which has cast Gen. Musharraf as a key ally in its fight against global terrorism stated that it is deeply disturbed by Pakistan's moves.The Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said at Jerusalem at the start of two days of meeting with Israeli and Palestinian leaders that she has not spoken to Gen Musharaff from the time the emergency has been declared in Pakistan. US sees the move as a battle lost as they wanted to avoid a authoritarianism in Pakistan. Even the European Union has urged Pakistan to hold parliamentary elections early the next year.
The Commonwealth 53 member group of Britain and its former colonies also condemned the Emergency declared by General Musharaff in Pakistan. China which is a very close ally too condemned the act but added that they hope Pakistan maintains stability and development.
