Its consumption has been associated with a reduced heart attack, risk of cancer and diabetes. The researchers found out that it helps in preventing chronic inflammation, which can lead to thickening of the arteries. A lower dose of the compounds - achievable by eating 100gm-200gm of onions - actually has shown a bigger impact in the study.
