LTTE CHIEF THAMILCHELVAN KILLED IN AIR RAID
The LTTE (Liberation Tigers of Tamil Ealam's Political Division chief Thamilchelvan was killed on yesterday, Friday 02 Nov 07 by the Srilankan Air Force on Kilnochchi, Tigers' administrative headquarters. Five more LTTE military self styled officers were also killed in the same raid at about 6 am. The organization confirmed the deaths only 6 hours after the incident.
This is know to be a retaliatory attack by the Srilankan Air Force against the raid on October 22 attack by LTTE on the Anuradhapura airbase by a 21 member team suicide squad. They claim to have killed 14 military personnel and also destroyed eight aircraft.
After the death of the organization's ideologue Anton S Balasingaham, last December in London, Mr Thamilchelvan was the next successor. He lost a leg when he in a battle a part of the military wing.
The LTTE has conferred "Brigadier" which is the highest rank on Thamilchelvan the same night on Friday and also announced that P Nadesan would succeed Thamilchelvan.
