GUJJARS CALL NATIONWIDE AGITAION IF SCHEDULE TRIBE STATUS - INDIA NEWS
NEW DELHI, INDIA (04 NOV 07): - The Ahil Bharatiya Gujjar Sangharsh Samiti in India said that a nation wide agitation will be launched if the central government failed to give in to the various demands of the community including the Scheduled Tribe status by Diwali or no member of the community will celebrate Diwali (Diwali is a major festival that marks the day on which King and God Ram returned to Ayodhya, his kingdom after a 14 year life in the forests and winning war with Ravana the Srilankan King to rescue his wife Sita.)
The Gujjars also demanded raising a Gujjar regiment in lines with Madras, Sikh and other regiments in the Indian Army.
