DELHI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AWARDED ISO 9001:2000 CERTIFICATE FROM UK BASED LLOYDS REGISTER QUALITY ASSURANCE
NEW DELHI, INDIA NEWS HEADLINES: - The Delhi International Airport Limited or DIAL in short, has been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate for Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). The ISO 9001:2000 certificate was received from UK based organisation Lloyds Register Quality Assurance by the Delhi INternational Airport Ltd. As per the Operations, Management, Development Agreement (OMDA), DIAL was to achieve the certification by May 2008. Instead, DIAL has achieved this more than 7 months ahead of schedule.
Immediately after taking over the charge of IGI Indira Gandhi International Airport in May-2006, DIAL has been working closely with airlines, government agencies, ground handlers and concessionaires to improve the service quality at the airport as the airport helps build the first impression of the city and the country. Earlier this year, Delhi International Airport Ltd. DIAL also achieved the ISO 9001:2000 quality certificate for the International Cargo Terminal at IGI Airport. The certificate came as a recognition of the tremendous efforts put in by Delhi International Airport Ltd., to improve the customer service, the quality control as well as the efficiency at the Cargo Terminal. The Delhi International Airport Ltd. DIAL achieved this within a short span of seven months from taking charge of Indira Gandhi International Airport IGI Airport.
Meanwhile, Delhi International Airport Ltd. DIAL is currently implementing the Master Plan for the development of a new airport complex at Indira Gandhi International Airport IGI Airport. Work on the integrated passenger terminal and runway commenced in Feb-07 and is expected to be fully operational by 2010 before the Commonwealth Games. The Indira Gandhi International Airport IGI Airport currently has capacity for 20 million passengers p/a. The Master Plan for the Indira Gandhi International Airport envisages capacity to be at 100 million passengers p/a by 2026.
